Two Women and a Cow
(Dos mujeres y una vaca)
Efraín Bahamón | Fiction, Drama
2015 | 98 minutes | Colombia
Two illiterate women travel to the nearby town looking for someone to read a letter they received. During the trip their plans are unexpectedly changed.
Synopsis
Rosana and Hermelinda receive a letter from Pastor. Anxious to know the fate of her young husband, Hermelinda and her grandmother begin a trip to the nearest hamlet in search of someone who can decipher the writing for them. Hermelinda's eight months of pregnancy are not an impediment to starting the adventure. Corina, the cow, hitched to a dilapidated cart, will make the journey easier. After a long and tiring day, the women arrive at Campo de la Cruz. There they discover with horror that all its inhabitants have been massacred. In the midst of a scenario of death, Hermelinda's birth comes early. Exhausted and pursued by the perpetrators of the massacre, the women begin a descent into hell. In their escape, Rosana and Hermelinda discover that the ghost of war is nothing more than an extension of the hatred, secrets, and fear that we all carry inside.
