Synopsis

Two families of hunters from the towns of Taltal and Caldera employ the swordfish hunting technique using the harpoon method. To capture their prey, they must venture out to sea, seeking the point where two powerful ocean currents converge, causing a change in temperature. The spirit and skill of these contemporary hunters evoke the ancient hunting practices of the Changos, who, in times past, ventured into these same waters to hunt large animals.

Series Description
A six-part documentary series that shows how the culture of the Chango people, considered extinct until a couple of years ago, is still deeply rooted among many artisanal fishermen who live in the coastal territory of northern Chile.

Reviews

"Through an intimate and visually striking narrative, the series immerses us in the lives of the small-scale fishermen who inhabit the nation’s coastal regions—people who have kept alive the traditions, techniques, and worldview of their ancestors—taking us on a journey through memory and craftsmanship." — Daphne Riffo, Espacio 13C
