(Karen)
María Pérez Sanz | Drama, Fiction

2020 | 61 minutes | Spain

An intimate late-African portrait of Danish colonist Karen Blixen, author of "Out of Africa".

Synopsis

María Pérez Sanz builds an intimate, elegant, and delicate portrait of Danish colonist Karen Blixen’s last years in Africa. Better known as Isak Dinesen, Karen is the free and adventurous woman who wrote the extraordinary famous "Out of Africa."

The film focuses on the peculiar relationship between Karen and her Somali servant Farah Aden: a friendship ahead of their time, in which those differences that seem unsolvable (a European woman in a position of power and an African man) are dissolved against an ancestral understanding.
